Earlier this year I traveled to Cancún, Mexico. It had been awhile since I had taken a tropical vacation and I was looking forward to sun and relaxation with my significant other. Before landing on Cancún as our destination, I was researching different locations because we also wanted to incorporate some history and culture into our trip. Cancún checked all the boxes we were looking for and we began planning our vacation itinerary for Mexico.
Planning for Cancún, Mexico
When planning my vacations, I always try to find the best deals possible. I was looking for an all-inclusive, adults-only resort not too far from the airport. The best resource for booking my trip was CheapCaribbean.com. It was a one-stop place where I was able to bundle my flight, hotel, and transportation to and from the airport. If you are planning a trip somewhere tropical, I recommend checking them out as they have great deals. I also used blogs and TripAdvisor to plan our trip.
Arriving in Cancún
After an early wake-up call and a few easy flights via United, we were in Cancun by early afternoon. We found our transportation van that we booked through Cheap Caribbean and we were on our way to the resort. Tip: I recommend booking a trusted transportation service before landing, or at the airport concierge, especially in a foreign country. We stayed at the Grand Oasis Sens resort which was convenient to the airport and downtown Cancun.
Itinerary for Cancún
We booked our excursions at the resort the day we arrived to make sure we could do all that we wanted to do. We planned it out so we could have a good mix of time on the resort relaxing and off the resort adventure. Tip: I recommend booking excursions through your hotel or through a trusted travel service to avoid being scammed. We used Viajes Caribe Maya and were very pleased with both excursions.
Day 1: Arrive and relax at the resort
Day 2: Excursion to a Cenote, Mayan Ceremony at a Mexican village, and Chichen-Itzá
Day 3: Relax at the resort
Day 4: Exploring downtown Cancún, Catamaran boat ride to Isla Mujeres
Day 5: Final day of relaxation 🙁

Overall, we had a great time in Cancún, Mexico and would definitely go back. What are some of your must-see places in Mexico?
